October!

Rebekah LOVES story time with Daddy. :) Mommy loves those few minutes that she has to take care of a few things in peace (from Rebekah AND Daddy, lol).

October went by quickly, just like all the other months! I don't remember exactly what we did for my birthday, but I'm sure I had fun. ;) Some of my students gave me gifts, and one girl brought in a small cake to share with the class. It was pretty great.

The next week was fall break - Oct 14 & 15. It was a MUCH needed break, especially since I was still trying to catch up to the work I fell behind on when I took a day for Kat's wedding. It all just kind of snowballs.

Also in October, we had a chance to have Brent and Tiffany Houston over for dinner. Brent's younger sister Chelsea is a childhood friend of mine, and I love their family! Brent and his wife moved down here for Brent to attend UA College of Pharmacy. We had a great evening with them and I hope to get to know them better. Tiffany seems like such a fun woman!

And Halloween! :) Since Halloween was on a Sunday, we had alternative Trick-or-Treat activities. Friday night we had our ward Trunk or Treat, and Saturday we took Rebekah to Kati's house for trick-or-treating around her neighborhood. She has a lot of church members in her neighborhood, and they had marked a map and let everyone at church know what houses to visit that night. Rebekah LOVED trick-or-treating, and frequently asks to go again.

I'm Pregnant!

Yeah, blurry as it is, you know you don't actually need to be able to read it!

That picture is actually from Sept 8, but I was waiting to announce this pregnancy until I had some ultrasound pictures, which I still need to upload. I went to the Dr on Oct 14th and they estimated a due date of May 8th - Mother's Day! 10/21 is the day I went for the ultrasound to determine a due date: They told me May 12. Guess we'll wait and see!

Where does the time go?

Just a little check in - I think I will try to blog extensively in about 2 weeks when I have my 2 day fall break from work. Yay for 4 day weekends!

In the mean time - I'm now working full time. Daryn is going to school full time - online. Rebekah is at my friend Carrie's house while I'm at work. She and Cairn have a great time together, and Carrie is great at finding activities for them. Wednesdays they go to Story Time at the library, and Fridays they often go to the zoo. Sometimes Rebekah is excited to go, and sometimes she cries when I leave. I feel sad and happy at the same time when she cries for me!

This last week was super hard and stressful. Two weekends ago I was a bridesmaid for my friend Kat. I took a Friday off work to help set up the reception hall, and spent the whole weekend doing my best to help out. When I came back to work, I found that it was VERY difficult to catch up, and I had a lot of parents freaking out because progress reports came out and their kids are failing. I spent a lot of time at work, and really really missed being at home.

In addition to Mommy-guilt, we ran out of checks (I thought I had one book left) and so I had to figure out alternative ways of paying my bills, which somehow made me super sensitive about our money issue. We were supposed to be working on getting out of debt at this point, and it was looking good, but since Daryn had to quit his job for one more semester of school (he finished his program, but had a credit deficiency, so he's taking a bunch of random gen ed courses), we're still moving into more debt instead of less. I know that it's for school, and that's okay, but it's still a little hard to swallow when we had such big plans! I know I should expect for plans to work out, but it's still disappointing. And stressful.

In other news, we're moved into our new place. It's on the end of a four-plex, and our friend's brother lives next to us, and our friend lives next to him. :) Our actual rent has gone down, but cost of living is up since we're covering our own utilities now - AND, our electric bill is way up because we have air conditioning, a dishwasher, and our own washer and dryer. I would use the clothes line for drying, but our yard is dirt and we have a dog.

It's a good size for us, and will be better when we have things better unpacked. We moved in RIGHT before I started working, so I didn't get to spend a ton of time on the unpacking process. My pianos is still at Kati's house, so hopefully I will be able to get it to my home before too long - after all, Daryn paid for it with his knee!

We're in a new stake - Kati's stake, actually! - and obviously a new ward. Daryn's been called as the Assistant Scout Master, but hasn't gotten into the groove of that, yet. They go on camping trips once a month, and I think he's looking forward to that. He just needs to remember to go to Scouts during the week! :)

What else...? Hmm... next week I'll be posting pictures. I have videos too, but I don't know how successful I'll be with those.

Oh! Rebekah is now 2, ADORES Toy Story, and has a Jesse doll she takes everywhere. If it were Buzz, I bet she'd never let go, but since it's Jesse, she parts with it from time to time. Her Buzz socks, on the other hand, are never off her feet when she can help it. Jeanette bought those for her, and had to go back and get some more because Rebekah was devastated when we had to wash the one pair!

Also, she talks like crazy, which I love. :) I'll have to think of some good sayings she's given us lately, and post them the next time I'm on.

I hope you're all doing well out there! I barely have time to look at my own blog, but I've managed to sneak a few peeks at yours, so keep up those updates - I love to at least pretend I keep up with your family.
